Emergency Fuel Fund Appeal, September 18 and 25

It comes as no surprise to anyone that the price of fuel oil has skyrocketed in the past months. The vestry is struggling with how to creatively manage our costs and still stay warm.
This task will be especially diffiult for individuals on fixed incomes and others in our community who depend upon Federal and State help to make ends meet. Christ Church administers the Montpelier Interfaith Council’s Emergency Fuel Fund
for all the Churches and the Synagogue in our community. We haven’t put out an appeal for funds in three years, but in anticipation of a greater need we feel it is prudent to ask for help.
Other Churches and the Synagogue are also collecting funds as is the City of Montpelier. If you can help, please use the envelope you will
find in your Sunday Bulletin on September 18 and 25. Thank you for your help.

Church School News

The fall season is fast approaching and a new Church School session is about to begin. I hope everyone had a fun and restful summer. Now, it’s time to come together again as community and rediscover together God’s heart and desires.
We will have four classes beginning September 11. Amelia Wilcox will lead the intermediate class, for children in fifth grade and up. Corrie Wilcox will lead the primary class, for children first through fourth grade. Either Elizabeth Wilcox or another willing volunteer will lead the preschool group. I need volunteers for the pre-school and nursery and ask for your help.
Hopefully, teachers will only be asked to lead a six to eight week session at a time. Again, volunteers will be needed to fill in these positions at a later date.
I am also determined to get a consistent youth group going throughout the year. Please contact me if you are willing to make an ongoing commitment with me to see this happen. My desire is to get a clear line of communication with all the families involved with the youth ministry so that this young community of Christians will grow stronger together in faith, love and service to others. I thank you all for your encouragement and help!
Peace to all,  —Elizabeth Wilcox

Children’s Choir News

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!
The youth of Christ Church are invited to make some joyful music with the Junior Choir this year starting Sunday, September 11.
Rehearsals are generally the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Sundays of each month from 11:30 to 12:15, with the Junior Choir singing at the service on the 1st Sunday of each month at the 10:00 service. (This schedule is, as always, subject to change depending on holidays, school vacations, and whatever illnesses the kids bring home from school!)
No prior experience is necessary, just a love of music and a willingness to share that with others. Please call Dawn Fairbanks, Junior Choir director, with any questions: 223-0544.
      See you at rehearsal!
