The Discretionary Fund takes in and gives out an average of $700 a month. Most of the money goes to help people in the community with small expenses such as transportation, work clothing, personal care items, child care, and utilities.
Occasionally, larger amounts are given to individuals who are facing a one-time, unanticipated outlay such as a medical expense or a housing deposit. Often this is done jointly with other churches in the community to share the cost.
